Album Review: Young Thug's "So Much Fun"

After 18 Mixtapes, 53 singles, 3 EP’s, and 30 Music Videos, Young Thug is officially releasing his first “Studio” Album. Although, there were many projects that were sought out to be albums, they were considered either a “Mixtape” or “EP”. Anyways, the 19 song, one hour and 2 minute project was released on August 16, 2019 and includes many of the greatest artists in the game right now such as J. Cole, Travis Scott, Future, Lil Baby, Gunna, Juice Wrld, Lil Uzi Vert & more.

The first and only single off of Thug’s first Studio Album was “The London” which broke the internet back on May 23, 2019. This has been a long time coming, fans have anticipated this album for almost a year. The London gave us a sneak preview of the album with arguably the two of the hottest artists in the game right now. The song was an interesting match, but it seems like Thug can work with almost anyone such as Billie Ray Cyrus, Mason Ramsey, Lil Nas X & Post Malone. Although, he seems to have unconventional songs with other artists, the production & final product always comes out high quality.

Young Thug fans always have high expectation when it comes to features on projects and Thug always lives up to expectations, So much Fun features 12 different artists over 19 songs all the included artists on the album include J. Cole, Travis Scott, Future, Lil Baby, Gunna, Juice Wrld, Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Duke, 21 Savage, Doeboy, NAV & Quavo.

The album begins with Just How It Is which sounds like a classic Thug song, he talks about what he used to do to get money, how he put on his brothers & the “real” reason he wore a dress. The soft beat, slower tempo song was a nice intro to the new album. It then goes into Sup Mate (feat. Future), the track sounds similar to songs off of Super Slimey, in which this could be a preview of what Super Slimey 2 sounds like.

Hot (feat. Gunna) is easily one of the hottest songs off the new album, the beat has a harder drop than most of the others and the two compliment each other’s talent well while having great chemistry. Similar to Young Thug & Lil Baby’s chemistry or Lil Baby & Gunna’s.

Thug and the two young Atlanta rappers have much in common while still maintaining their unique style throughout each track.

It is still unknown which song will be the biggest off the new project, but there are a few that are going to take off on the charts and over at Controlled Sounds, we believe that Hot (feat. Gunna) & Bad Bad Bad (feat. Lil Baby) are going to be some of the fans favorites off the album.

We are actually surprised he didn’t include some of his young artists like Jacquees & Lil Gotit on the album but they may make an appearance on Super Slimey 2.

Controlled Sounds top 5 Tracks off the project

  1. Hot (feat. Gunna)

  2. The London (feat. J. Cole & Travis Scott)

  3. Bad Bad Bad (feat. Lil Baby)

  4. Just How It Is

  5. Circle Of Bosses (feat. Quavo)
