According to TMZ’s article, THE WEEKND DEFIES THE ODDS ... With Album Success Amid Coronavirus Pandemic, they spoke with the Weeknd in regard to his latest album ‘After Hours’ & all the success it had the first week, regardless of the worldwide pandemic of the COVID-19. The 30 year old ‘starboy’ showed his gratitude toward those who are still working in industries that help others.

He is quoted "It’s been amazing to see the real heroes shine in our world right now, the healthcare workers, the grocery store clerks and staff, delivery people, first responders – everyone putting their lives on the line to help others. This album is for them and any small joy or relief it can bring”

Apparently, The Weeknd’s team didn’t want the album to be released during such a delicate time, they felt there weren’t as many marketing opportunities as his previous albums & would result in a loss of potential sales… They were wrong, as The Weeknd was able to get his fourth number one album regardless of minimal room for success.
