Russ has spoken in many interviews about how he handles his business, leveraging his fanbase to ink better recording deals, the actual math behind a deal, and his deal compared to other artists’ deals. It was 2016 that Russ actually signed his first recording deal, and in an interview with DJ Small Eyez, Russ actually spoke about why he chose Columbia over opposing record labels.

Russ spoke about how he was releasing music consistently until label recognition occurred and then weighed out the different options after forming his team. Fast forward 4 years, and Russ announced on Twitter yesterday that he is 100% independent.
