Coachella 2020's Plan on Postponing Due to COVID-19

Due to the recent outbreak of the COVID-19 (Coronavirus), one of the largest festivals in the world has been in the works to postpone about 6 months from the original date. Coachella 2020 is originally set for weekends of April 10 and April 17. The new dates are planned on being set for weekends of October 9 & October 16, with headliners such as Rage Against the Machine, Travis Scott & Frank Ocean.

Other events are definitely being postponed, as many states are moving toward a state of emergency. Many colleges are being shut down in the Northeast, as I am sure many more will be closing in the upcoming weeks. The CDC will eventually have this virus under control, but until then, certain events & performances should be postponed for the safety of the public.

Although rescheduling is always an enormous amount of work, I feel that Coachella has to do what is best for the public & postponed for six months from now. This isn’t the first outbreak that the world has seen, but the uncertainty of the outcomes outweighs the benefits of the event. Stay tuned to see how Coachella, and other major events handle this upcoming crisis.
